As we close another school year, BCSCA wanted to take the time to reflect on all of your accomplishments as a school counselor. Thank you for taking the time to competently provide career and college counseling to your huge caseload of  students, for watching out for your student’s mental health and providing the resources that will help, for directing school-wide character education activities, for organizing state and AP testing, and providing a safe haven in your offices for students who need someone to listen. For these reasons and many others BCSCA finds it important to celebrate our outstanding counselors and those who help along the way.

The June awards ceremony was a beautiful, inspiring night hosted by BMW and Universal Technical Institute. A special thank you  to those of you who attended.

BCSCA was also fortunate to be hosted by outstanding colleges and universities this year at beautiful venues.  Some are old friends of BCSCA such as Berkeley College, Fortis Institute, & Eastwick College,  who all shared their exciting new programs . New hosts such as Merrimack College, Western Connecticut State, New York Film Academy, & Universal Technical Institute introduced us to their campuses and educated us on what they offer students.  A special thank you to all of our sponsors. We hope to see them again soon.

It was our pleasure to give away $8,000 in scholarship to four very deserving students.

BCSCA was also able to provide some quality professional development. Learning about Unlocking Your Personal and Professional Code by Dr. Margaret E. Tieman, New Trends with Substance Abuse presented by Maggie Burchill from Caron Treatment Center, SAT tutoring opportunities, and a Merrimack professor shared the importance of compassion.

The K-8 Cohort visited Care Plus and Marble Jam Kids. Their meetings had expert speakers who spoke on the topics of Section 504 law and play therapy. A special thank you to Marnie Ross and Vanessa DeJesus who do an outstanding job running this phenomenal group.

A special thank you to our executive board who works tirelessly on behalf to make BCSCA one of the biggest and best professional organizations in New Jersey.

Wishing our retirees good luck on their future endeavors…Thomas Krenn- Saint Joseph High School and Laura Moore- Ridgewood  High School.

As the BCSCA yearly winter donation driver, we were able to send cash, gift cards, and donations to Jersey Cares.  Thank you to all those who donated!

We look forward to seeing you at our first meeting hosted by our old friends Berkeley College. The date and location to be announced soon!

Please also be on the lookout for some changes to the format and style of our meetings - we have some exciting changes for the 2019-2020 school year!

Wishing all of you a restful and relaxing summer!!
